Sailing from and around Ibiza and Formentera including Ibiza Town, Marina Botafoch, San Antonio, St. Eulalia

Formentera is the smaller and more southerly Island of the Pitiusas. It is the least inhabited of the Balearic islands and has a flat landscape with long beaches of immaculate white sand. The island gives the impression of a nature reserve. Only 12 by 4 miles in size, you could easily sail around this Spanish island in one day or equally, give yourself time to visit the island by land docking in the laid back port of La Savina. The best anchorage is Espalmador, a private island with a lovely sheltered beach. The summer prevailing winds are easterly so Cala Sahona and anywhere off Illetas are a nice anchorage, with plenty of sand and turquoise waters. If the wind swings to the west you'll need to be on the eastern side of the island – Es Pujols has a lot of sand but don't venture too close in, same goes for Es Calo or the bay just west of La Savina (called either Sa Pedrera by the locals or Ensenada de Cabrita in many guide books). There is not much sand here, mainly rock & weed, but the Balearic Islands authorities have put free mooring buoys down for the last 2 years. The area is very handy for provisions - just take your dinghy into the lagoon (Estany de Peche) and pull up on the beach opposite the local supermarket. Crossing over to Ibiza through the isthmus can be quite challenging at high season with a lot of traffic from both pleasure crafts and ferries. Once in Ibiza, do visit the hustle and bustle of charming old town Ibiza with its many shops, excellent restaurants and flamboyant visitors. The citadel or upper part is a world heritage side and very attractive for walks in cool, picturesque and pedestrianised alleys. This island is a very popular destination for charter of crewed powerboats as well as luxury sailingyachts.

Ibiza port is a fairly large harbor with two marinas - Marina Botafoch which attracts luxury yachts and the town's Ibiza Nueva.  This marina is more likely to have room but it´s best to make reservations well in advance. If you don´t find a berth, Talamanca bay just to the north east offers a good anchorage and just a short walk away from town. Further along you will find Cala Llonga, Cala Boix and San Miguel on the north coast. San Antoni in the north west is quite a party place, but if you anchor well away from the crowd, the town has much to offer. With a breeze from the west this is your best option on this side of the island, with moorings and a lot of room. From there you could even cross over to mainland Spain in a comfortable day sail, see Dénia in Alicante or visit Valencia further up north.

The fortunate situation of these islands in the western mediterranean means they enjoy favorable winds all year around allowing for an extra long season. It makes them especially interesting for the low season as well. Ibiza was in fact one of the first mediterranean islands to be visited by artists and hippies in the 50s for this reason. It has since developed into a world famous destination with the descendants of these first tourists still living there.

For a 7 days sailing itinerary Ibiza and Formentera combine relaxed sailing, plenty of little bays around Ibiza and anchorages in Formentera which offers a caribbean style coastline.
For a more active 7 days sailing itinerary you could include a day sail from Ibiza to Palma Bay in Mallorca, overnight there with visiting Palma and returning the next day.

Bareboat, yachts with skipper and other boat rental requests   Ibiza & Formentera

Good morning, We are 2 friends (boy and girl) of thirty years and we would like to spend 2 to 4 days between 12 and 15 September sailing through the Balearics (Ibiza, Menorca ...) visiting coves, etc. I would like to know if you make this type of trips and their availability for the indicated date. Our idea is to share the boat with other people. Thank you very much. Catamaran for 1 week, bareboat. End of September 2017. Ibiza only. Regards Heyy, we are a group of 6 and want to sail from Barcelona to Ibiza on the 7th of August, preferably on a shared yacht or catamaran not an entire boat. Also we want a round trip from Ibiza to Fromentera on the 9th of August also on shared yacht or catamaran not an entire boat. I don't have a specific budget as I am not aware of the prices same for the boat type I am open for all options. definitely with skipper as we are foreigners so we are not licensed and also as our preference is not to rent an entire boat, we don't need a private charter, however we need something more luxurious and comfortable than the ferry. Thanks Hello, I plan to make a daytour at Ibiza with a sailingboat on the 6th of september. Number of people : 4 ; 2 of them have a sailing licence , so a skipper is not needed; the best starting place would be in port San Miguel or even better in Benirass; thank you for your propositions Good afternoon, we are two people interested in sharing with others, a boat to sail and know the coves of the island Formentera. It would be to close a couple of days or a day and a night between the 15 and the 18 of August. We have no title, we are 2. Thank you very much in advance. Greetings
